Dubla Music (pronounced duhb-uhl-ey) is a production company hailing collectively from New Orleans and Brooklyn. This innovative organization promotes diversity in music through collaboration with artists across assorted genres and media.

Dubla Music is a family of creative individuals hailing from New Orleans, Brooklyn and Houston. Like the city of New Orleans, Dubla Music is a spicy gumbo; a blend of perspectives, cultures, and flavors. The organization exists as a vehicle to make music – real music – to express creatively without limitation of profitability. Dubla Music productions are dictated by artist creativity, not corporate decisions.

Aaron Thornton [Dubla] founded Dubla Music in 1999 after years of broadening musical and cultural horizons. Most of his life was spent in the in Brooklyn and NYC, but was born in Mobile. He also lived in Philly and Knoxville before moving production to the heart of the New Orleans art scene in the warehouse district.

Dubla produces, mixes and engineers the inspired rhythms heard on the Dubla Music projects. While Jazz, Soul and Funk are major influences in Dubla’s sound, there are elements of African, European, Latin and Asian Rhythms that contribute to the worldly and eclectic sonic concept; deeply rooted in hip-hop, funk, soul and jazz peppered with contrasting worldly influences.

Producer and DJ Knos heads the Dubla Music Brooklyn annex. Knos has been into Djing and music production since he got his first turntable in 8th Grade. One turntable turned to two and a mixer, which led to a severe addiction to vinyl records. Samplers, drum machines, various synthesizers and instruments became invaluable tools as he progressed and begun to construct his own compositions from samples and original material. He has studied Music Production and Engineering and has a degree in this field. Knos now resides in Brooklyn and focuses strictly on his music, “improving his ends” and maximizing the opportunities presented to him. Look for Knos at the ongoing basement/loft shows around the corner from his hideout in Bushwick.
